IN THIS BLEND
Chelbesa - Ethiopia
Located in Gedeo zone of the Gedeb district - known for its dense layered semi-forest vegetation structure encompassing false banana trees as well as shade grown coffee trees - Worka Chelbesa is one of the finest coffee producing areas within the famous Gedeb Woreda. SNAP Specialty Coffee built a new wet mill in 2019 in Chelbesa Village with the hope of purchasing cherries from the local farms within the area. This particular lot has been processed using a traditional natural method. Sorting is done using a series of floatation tanks that separates all floaters and immature cherries. During the process of floatation, the cherries are cleaned before being placed on drying beds for a period of 28 to 35 days.
Demtu - Ethiopia
This coffee is produced by Habtamu Fekadu, who owns and runs a family farm in Kuri Kebele. He is also the owner of Kuri Mountain Coffee. This coffee is harvested by hand before being shipped to the farm’s Goro Badesa processing site in the Demtu region of the Guji zone. The company channels $0.12 per exported pound and 5% of profits into a community development fund and pairs those commitments with hands-on agronomy support, encouraging clean, organic-leaning farm practices and the planting of shade trees. Habtamu Fekadu and Kuri Mountain Coffee continue to partner with local authorities and communities on school renovations and road maintenance, while advancing training that blends agronomy, quality control, and social responsibility.
