ABOUT US
About us:
The Devon Coffee Company was born in 2011, since then we have grown from a co-operative of café owners looking to improve their coffee quality to a Specialty Coffee Roaster supplying and supporting over 100 businesses across the South West.
These days we are all about the customer-tailored experience, helping both coffee connoisseurs and filter freshers plunge into the world of specialty coffee.
As well as supplying our freshly roasted Seasonal Espresso to the trade, we provide technical support and barista training to ensure you will always be pulling the sweetest shots. For those looking for something unique, our bespoke ‘white label’ service offers full control over your coffee, from choice of green beans through to adjustments in roasting style and custom branding.
We haven’t forgotten the domestic dabblers out there. Our home brew page on the website and The Devon Coffee Club offer a range of coffees and subscription options prepared for a full spectrum of brewing methods.
Our Home:
After 5 years of growth, squashed into an old galley kitchen under Plymouth Guildhall we moved to our current premises in Faraday Mill. We spent the next year re-investing profit to build out each space to the specification needed. An empty warehouse became home to the Roastery, Training room, Warehouse, Cupping room and Trade Counter.
The Roaster:
Our first 1kg roaster proved invaluable in learning and exploring the world of specialty coffee but now plays second fiddle to our 15kg classic double drum roaster. Installed in 2017 our ‘Besca’ is churning out the best tasting coffees we have ever produced and was instrumental in creating our Seasonal Espresso range.
Using data logging software to profile each of our roasts, followed by endless cupping sessions, we ensure that we can produce the same great tasting coffee batch after batch. It also means that should you like your coffee roasted in a different style or to a different degree we are able to draw upon our profile database to achieve this without shooting in the dark.
Contact us if you would like to book a tasting session and visit the roastery.
